Running in the yard with your dog can be a lot of fun, but when your dog is both deaf and blind, it poses some challenges.
For the Flood family, those challenges meant their husky, Lady, couldn’t see or hear them very well.
She was comfortable and enjoyed running in circles, but it’s not like she could play a game of fetch or tag very easily, given her lack of eyesight and hearing.

Erica Flood shared on TikTok that they adopted the now 10-year-old blind and deaf husky last year after seeing her profile in an adoption ad for the Husky House.
Lady (formerly Blingy) was abandoned when her owners moved overseas. Erica knew she’d be a great addition to their family, so they went and met her and eventually brought her home.

When Erica first brought Lady home to the family, she wasn’t sure how to walk on a leash. She didn’t know how to run around in the yard and needed some time to adjust.
Slowly, but surely, Lady learned to use a leash and integrated into with the family.

It wasn’t always easy, but Lady slowly came out of her shell and became comfortable with her new family and home.

Now, just a year after adopting Lady, the sweet pup is full of life, energy, and enthusiasm for her new family and home!

The dog chases after her owner as if she can see and hear, and uses her paws to pounce. It’s adorable and surprising how accurately she’s able to follow along!
